Stimulate More Innovation
CityPartners.org and its allies have already achieved success with innovations that are for the "public good." For example:
- IBM has financed and developed a state-of-the-art data repository tool that allows civic officials, business leaders, and community activists to forecast likely future outcomes based on up-to-date data at no cost to the user. The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning will be beta testing IBM's tool in May 2010.
- In October 2009, the Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection partnered with technology provider Openhill.com to provide free websites to all business attendees of the City's 2009 TechExpo, increasing economic vitality by narrowing the business digital divide. IBM and its nonprofit partner Green Street Project equipped Openhill.com with enough computer servers to offer free websites to 100,000 organizations.
